Book Review : – A Walk To Remember , Novel by Nicholas Sparks

Book Review : The book I have read recently is the romantic twisted
love story – A Walk To Remember , Novel by Nicholas Sparks.

Sparks is very famous and a good writer . He wrote this book as his third book .
He wrote it in North Carolina, which is the setting of the novel . His first
published novel is   The Notebook . The title A Walk to Remember was taken
from one of the tail end pages of the novel: "In every way, a walk to
remember. The novel is written in first-person, and its narrator is a seventeen-
year-old boy, living in the 1950s."

A Walk to remember by Nicholas Sparks set up in 1999 is one of the most
beautiful romantic and emotional novel which depicts the element of simplicity,
true love, faith , hope and trust . Thus in other words we can say that the novel
has all those basic important elements to be liked by the readers. Though the
novel has a simple and the basic plot of romantic school love story but has
taught the readers some other aspects of life such as simplicity always wins ,
faith , trust and hope . The most beautiful and meaningful line quoted from the
novel is "Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous, love is
never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense,
and is not resentful."
Love takes no pleasure in other people  sins but delights in
the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever
comes.

The protagonist of the novel is Landon Carter narrates the flashback story of his
early school life in 1950s at Beaufort High in Beaufort, North Carolina, that
how a girl entered his life and he experienced the true power of love and how
his life is completely changed.
The story starts with the introduction of Landon Carter and his friends who
were the naughtiest ones and one of the cool boy of the senior secondary school
who dated many girls before falling in true love . He is both adrift and certain,
confident and susceptible to peer opinion in other words, a typical teenager.
Jamie Sullivan, the another most important character of the novel is the simple
girl the daughter of a local minister . Jamie is such social poison to Landon’s
circle that he avoids her at all costs and makes fun of her almost everyday
because of her innocence and simplicity.

The plot take a twist when Landon Carter asked for the help from Jamie to run
through the lines of the play and with the passage to time Landon falls in love
with the girl he used to bully with his friends .The book is filled with many
twist and turns along with some sweet humor and bittersweet moments. Like in
many of his books, Nicholas Sparks finds a place in the minds of his readers and
helps them build an emotional connection with the characters. At many
moments I found myself able to relate to both these characters. It made me look
back at moments in my life and appreciate the love that was built.
They became to come closer and closer and built a healthy and trustworthy
relationship. This is the most turning point on the character of Landon that how
the simplest girl changed his life so much. He realized what he was under the
peer pressure and what he is after meeting and falling in love with Jamie .They
both spent time together in rehearsals, walking home together and spending
time in cemetery watching stars and other beautiful planets.

The story took a twist when Jamie opened her hidden secret to Landon and
reveals that she will soon die as she is suffering from leukemia. Landon love for
Jamie increases more as he heard the news and decided to fulfill the Jamie's
wish listed on number one i.e. of marrying in the church where her mother used
to play . Landon decided to marry Jamie before her death .Landon and Jamie are
married in a church full of people just like her dream . Landon remembers
thinking. It was...the most difficult walk anyone ever had to make. In every
way, a walk to remember. Few months after their marriage, Jamie left Landon
but his love for her is still alive even after 40 years .
The book ends with Landon at age 57. He still loves Jamie and wears his ring. He
finishes the story by saying, I now believe, by the way, that miracles can
happen.

The book teaches us many elements of life and most importantly the true love at
very young age. This book is really emotional and romantic preferably
recommended for the young age people and mostly the people who believe in
true love.
